haha, i love johnny truants stories. They're entirely in the footnotes, which i only noticed pretty late on in the novel. And as it says that johnny truant is the editor, who is "the ed." in the footnotes? And sometimes danielewski drives you crazy, like in one case he refers you to another footnote, which refers to a different footnote, which refers to an appendix that is "missing".
Sorry about that, i love talking about books :D

oh right! i read the first edition years ago (which was basically the same book, but only up to page 40).
I'm doing a postmodern literature course at uni, which basically consists of analysing danielewski and pynchon, haha.
if you look at the one of the first pages of the book it tells you which editions exist, the finished version which you probably have is the 2nd edition, called the full colour edition. The first one is the "incomplete" one, and the two middle ones dont exist. have a look sometime :D
