Started in January 2015 by Eliza Romero - a style blogger, photographer and pop culture critic - Aesthetic Distance was a way to finally create her "dream job" by combining her passions of beauty, fashion and photography. Since the beginning, Eliza used her blog to showcase her personal style and each post was accompanied by her musings on pop culture. People started to take notice and the response was incredible. That's when Aesthetic Distance shifted from being a blog to a community and a calling. It is Eliza's vision combined with her passion and talent for visual storytelling and building community.
Prior to starting her blog, Eliza attended The University of Maryland, College Park where she majored in Art History. She then earned her M.F.A. in Integrated Design.
Eliza is a supporter of We Need Diverse Books, an organization of children's book lovers that advocates essential changes in the publishing industry to produce and promote literature that reflects and honors the lives of all young people. She is the Public Relations and Social Media Officer of the Katipunan of Maryland, a nonprofit that focuses on developing social and educational programs that promote Filipino culture in Maryland.
