For me, the picknick in the park stands for the start of a long celebrated spring. Time for something new. A new beginning of a bright new period. It's been like this for years. However, since I started studying in Amsterdam this year, I had to find new picknick-partners and a very Amsterdam-place to host it. Luckily my friends from universty came with the idea before I even had the chance to explain my sense of tradition. We went to the vondelpark (the Dutch version of Centralpark) and all was well again.
Of course one has to have the perfect outfit for a perfect picknick, so I bought myself a candy-cane striped tie (turns out these are extremely difficult to find) and a tweed blazer and I was fully preppy prepared for a day in the park. (My good old picknick basket inclus, of course!)
