This year marks the 50th anniversary of the mini skirt (...) The origins of this style date back to Swinging London during the 1960s with designer, Mary Quant, often credited as its inventor. (...)
The island of Hvar, off the coast of Split, was a much needed getaway from the swarms of tourists on the mainland. Normally my bright outfit would stand out, but here it competes with the red tiled roofs and deep blue water. I am donning a J.Crew x Liberty London mini skirt with a Tibi racerback cami. The skirt has so many colors in it that it can be mixed and matched easily. I further heightened the skirt’s brilliant floral pattern with bold sunglasses and a clutch, both from Kate Spade. Keeping with the 1960s theme of Quant, I chose block heeled sandals from Tory Burch. While exploring the island in the heat of the summer, I was thankful for the invention of the mini skirt. On top of keeping me cool, it was easy to strip off before I dove into the sea for a refreshing swim.
