Love all, trust few

Cee F. - - Love all, trust few

"Love all, trust few, but to thine own self be true," is probably one of the most frequently quoted lines from Shakespeare, a man so adept at eloquently summing up the human condition and the collective experiences of love and loss that we are still inclined, almost four hundred years after his death, to use his words to sum up our thoughts when our own words fail us. I admit that there are writers I love far more than Shakespeare - Dumas, Steinbeck and Louis de Bernieres all come to mind - but when it comes to relationships, I have to say that the English playwright had it absolutely right. I've always been a quality over quantity kind of girl, especially when it comes to my wardrobe and beauty routine, (although I did finally learn to do a smoky eye, which you can see me wearing in these photos!), but it's only as I've gotten older that I've seen how important it is to apply that principle to friendships. I reconnected with a good friend I haven't seen in a few months this week and an evening of good food, paired with great conversation, was a wonderful reminder that the number of followers or contacts I have in my phone doesn't matter - because the people around me are amazing. I think this is such an interesting topic because I know that many people don't think like me and would much rather have a wide circle of people around them, even if those relationships aren't very close. So I want you all to weigh in - when it comes to friendships, do you prefer quality or quantity? (Or a little bit of both?)
