I arrived in New York in this outfit, fully expecting to change into a more glamourous planned ensemble as soon as we checked into our room at the Dazzler Hotel in Brooklyn; after all, I had spent the night on a red eye flight and done an early morning run through Toronto's Pearson Airport in these clothes, which left me less than enthusiastic about continuing to wear them for any period of time. But standing at JFK Airport, watching the empty baggage carousel turn around and around, I knew all of my plans had flown out the window. We went for a beautiful brunch we had reserved earlier at Sarabeth's in Central Park South; I was incredibly underdressed in the pristine white dining room, but all things considered, I truly didn't care. My most pressing concern was that my allegedly comfortable Chuck Taylors were giving me a blister the size of a quarter on my left foot. Luckily, once I had a bit of caffeine in the form of a fancy cup of tea, I realized I'd had a change of shoes in my handbag all along. Needless to say, my vision of the start of our trip to New York did not turn out exactly as planned. Our next stop after brunch was Uniqlo on Fifth Avenue, where we picked up a change of clothes for our adventures the following day....! That Uniqlo outfit will make its debut on the blog later this week. In the meantime, happy Thanksgiving to all of my Canadian friends!
