Growling Gucci

Matthew Reinhold - - Growling Gucci

For this story, we carefully chose a few pieces that could illustrate the dichotomy of the brand. First the boots, when we worked at Vogue Russia they were gifted to us at the holidays, and we’ve never been more appreciative. The jeans we got in the seventh grade from Barney’s, they are a bit tighter than they used to be, but they have the illustrious Gucci ribbon when you fold up the ankles. The military coat is from Tom Ford’s last collection with Gucci, But still very much part of the present Gucci spirit. When we first got it, we were so excited to wear it everywhere until someone mistaken to us for a doorman at which point it went to the back of the closet. The sunglasses are permanent collection classics– we will pass them down to our children. The t-shirt is a newer acquisition and the initial inspiration for this post. We got on Canal Street, so its authenticity is dubious at best but it’s representational of a time when Growling Gucci was more ghetto Gucci. Oh! And Fuss’s necktie was a gift from an unsuccessful suitor to me, but I kept the tie.
