Since most of my time is spent working at my new job I really wanted to put some time aside to be creative again, and so I was extremely excited for this year's Halloween costume making. I was able to piece together my Halloween costume with simple crafty items from the dollar store: burlap, plastic flowers and leaves, hay, and a fake plastic crow. I soon began my creative process. First turning a pair of old overalls into a dress and sewing on some patches. I had saved one of my favorite plaid shirts and thought it would be perfect for the top. My number one friend in this project was my glue gun. Hot glue really saves the day! I created my burlap hat from scratch with the help of the hot glue. I had no idea that I would be able to use hot glue to make a hat, but it happened and was a success. A nice touch I included was gluing hay all around the sleeves and ends of the outfit for a hay filling look.
Once my costume was finished I was ready to add the makeup for a complete look. I know scarecrows are meant to be scary for warding off crows but I ended up going for a more fun and playful look as a female scarecrow, hence the crow a.k.a my best friend on my shoulder. I was simply a scarecrow not doing their job:P
Finally, I got the idea for the scenery for my look which was a cornfield just outside of town. The day of, we drove on out and I got myself into character by hanging out like a scarecrow in a field. We took some photos and I was super excited to share my favorite picture with you all.
