Last weekend, I conquered one of my biggest fears and rode in a Harbour Air float plane from Vancouver to Victoria. It did not go particularly well – not because anything actually went wrong, but because, predictably, it turned out that I really wasn’t ready to fly over open water in a twelve-seat plane. But adventure called, and when it does, I always answer. We had a fabulous time in Victoria once we were on dry land, but in the days leading up to the trip, and the inevitable plane ride, I busied myself with outfit planning to keep from obsessing about how terrifying the upcoming flight would be. The weather has been unusually unpredictable this year and, as the forecast changed, so did my outfit plans; I went through about three potential travel looks before finally settling on this one, the perfect mix practicality – see nearly flat boots and warm hat for proof that I do occasionally take comfort into consideration when I get dressed – and style. It turned out to be the best possible choice; December is such a fun time to travel because wherever you go, everything feels so festive, but it’s also a season of inclement weather and delays, so when our trip home wound up taking four hours instead of thirty minutes, I was really glad that I hadn’t gone for a more Pinterest-worthy but less functional look. (Yes, I wore the same outfit both ways – sorry, not sorry.) Will you be travelling anywhere for the holidays this year? And if so, what will you be wearing?
