This winter, we’ve had more snow storms in Vancouver than we’ve had in the ten years I’ve lived here combined. With snow comes (slightly) colder temperatures and sunny weather, so it’s hard to complain – the alternative being bruise-coloured skies and relentless rain – but on the days when do have flurries, city life can get a bit silly. Vancouver may be in Canada, but our weather is so different from the weather in the rest of the country that we are far from prepared for even the smallest dusting of snow – and it’s never really a dusting; the snow is always heavy and wet with humidity, perfect for making snowballs but also ideal for ruining an otherwise good hair day. With all that said, there is no denying how pretty the fresh snow looks while it’s falling – I really wanted a set of pretty snowfall photos this season (while I still live in a city where falling snow doesn’t come with temperatures in the -20 Celcius range!) and, despite how impractical the whole process was, I was excited to finally get them earlier this month. With that said, now that we’ve done our snowy photoshoot, I’ll be happy not to see anymore snow until next winter!
