Knits for August
Wearing a sweater in the middle of August might seem a lil’ strange to y’all but hear me out. This entire summer, I have been freezing. And no, it’s not because the temperature is actually cold, it’s because Shoppers (where I work and spend most of my life) refuses to turn down it’s air conditioning in the beauty boutique so nine out of ten times, you will find me huddled in the corner with twelve sweaters on. It has seriously messed up my poor body. So, even when I do spend a day outside in the sun, I’m still freezing. I don’t think that’s good. I should probably go see a doctor. But until then, I will just keep wearing sweaters in +30 (°C) weather.
There is something about a thick, bulky knitted sweater that just makes me overjoyed for Fall. And this sweater from Aran Sweaters Direct, the cutest Irish (I loooooove Ireland) knitwear retailer, is definitely going to be my favorite piece to wear once the cold weather hits here in Edmonton. You know those sweaters that you just want to put on and watch a movie with hot chocolate and freshly baked cookies and never take off because it’s that cozy? Yeah, that’s this sweater. It’s slightly oversized with a gorgeous cowl neck and a beautiful cable stitch down the centre. I also love the colour (called Parsnip), it’s the perfect beige oatmeal shade that should be a staple in everyone’s closet.
But to avoid looking to seasonally confused (after all, I am wearing a sweater in mid-August), I wore my favorite white embroidered jeans from Zara. The floral embroidery complimented the sweater perfectly and added that lil’ pop of colour. I do love a pop of colour. For shoes, you won’t be surprised that, yet again, I’m wearing my mules from Forever 21. These have quickly become my summer shoe staple and I honestly don’t know what I would do without them. I kept my jewelry simple but added these amazing hoop statement earrings from Happiness Boutique. I have been loving that whole oversized hoop trend and I think these are just different enough to compliment my miniature face and my new haircut! Plus they’re super light so they’re not going to weigh down your earlobes at all!
