In the Bedroom

Cee F. - - In the Bedroom

I wasn’t kidding when I said, “I hope you all like seeing the inside of my apartment,” because here we are back again today – but in the bedroom this time. Our bedroom was the first room we focused on in our new home. The reason for that was simple; our bed frame broke just before we left Vancouver, so we left it behind. That meant we spent the first weeks back in Winnipeg searching for the perfect bed frame for our new space… and the first weeks in our new home sleeping on our sofa bed while we waited for it to arrive. (Moving is always an adventure…!)

The bed frame, which we got from Structube, proved absolutely worth the wait. Of all the pieces of furniture we’ve acquired in the past six months, and there have been a lot of them because our new apartment is double the size of our old one, it is probably my favourite. This is the first home we’ve had where I’ve given much thought to our bedroom decor. We don’t use the bedroom for anything but sleep, so it often becomes a decor afterthought – as long we have a bed, we’re happy. Or so I thought. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how much more I love our bedroom now that the way it looks is more in line with my style.

We moved to our new apartment in July last year. And I am totally aware that I have only shared the smallest sneak peeks of our space so far. It’s not even my perfectionist tendencies that are getting in the way, surprisingly. The truth is, we’re so far from finished the epic project we’ve undertaken with this apartment and while it’s already majorly improved, I’m holding out until we’re closer to finished our renovations to share what we’ve done. I have a set of “before” photos from when we bought the place and revealing the difference will be… dramatic, to say the least.

And so, for now, I give you the corner of our bedroom. (A little peek at my office has popped up, too.) I admit we’ve made some small changes even to this space since we took these photos. The new, matching end tables we ordered arrived, so my beloved marble side table moved back to my office where it belongs. It’s all a work in progress. And while I sometimes lament the fact that we’re constantly moving our furniture, for the first time in my life, I’m really excited about the space we live in and the potential we have to make it our own. So the home tour can wait. And I don’t really mind.

Since this is my first time doing a major home makeover, I’m curious… Have you every completely redone a home? What was the experience like for you?
