...I'm pretty sure this photo encompasses everything that was my peak 'cosplay phase'.
1. The 'Aquawoman' design is my own. I've always rooted for the underdog, and Aquaman as a character has been historically made fun of for his power set. I read a few comic runs about him and really connected to the character and how he struggled with the ongoing duality of having to run his kingdoms on both the land and under the sea. I also love the ocean, so being able to communicate with sea life would be amazing. Lastly, he is very, very strong. Do you know how strong you have to be to swim quickly, much less under 500 atmospheres below sea level? Strong!!!
2. The costume is made almost entirely out of four-way stretch hologram lycra. This translates to being 90% waterproof, so there's function to the form as well!
3. It is a location photoshoot with one of my favorite photographers to this day. I like to think of this photo as my character being somewhere in the halls of Atlantis.
*On a fun side note, I wore this before Jason Momoa had been officially announced as 'Aquaman' and had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet him in person while wearing this costume. I asked him if he was going to be the new 'Aquaman', and even though he couldn't officially say whether or not he had been cast, he smiled ever so slightly to tell me the answer!
