Orwell, Austin are probs near the top but my all time favourite is Kazuo Ishiguro. I just picked one of his books randomly for an ISU project but I loved it and ended up buying his other books. Great author

One of the few writers I thought "This man is a genius" while reading one of their books, is Robert Rankin.
After the first page I knew 'Hollow chocolate bunnies of the apocalypse' was going to be one of the best books i'd ever read.
