I'm looking for a red lipstick. I've never really wear lipstick, so not sure where to look. I'm pale with dark brown hair. Any suggestions?

Mac have some great ones, as does Chanel. If you want something cheaper Rimmel has a couple of good reds too (:

i suggest u go for a bright red, since u're pale...also i read somewhere that everytime u're gonna buy some lipstick u should try it on and check that it doesnt make your teeth look yellowish (even if they're naturally white) and that way u know u have picked the right shade n_n

in the store dont try it on your lips, thats a bit gross, even though i confess to doing it.
dont test it on the back of your hand either, test it on the palm, supposedly it's closer to your facial skin colour.

bring a packet of tissues and wipe the lipstick first, THEN it's cleaned and ready to go. no germs. also i agree MAC is the best place to go they have so many red variations there will be one to suit you

considering you're fair-skinned you should go for blue-reds, not orange ones. darker-skinned girls should wear brighter orange-reds.

There are tons of varieties of lipstick, though. Matte, sheer, pearly, etc. I'm assuming you want a matte? If so, I love love love the MAC ones. Also they clean the lipstick testers so you're safe on the bacteria issue :)

Try a shade from NARS.

Honestly, its the best lipstick I have ever used in my life!

ah yes I forgot to mention NARS! Amazing lipsticks, but they don't have many varieties of red :(

my all time favourite is NARS Funny Face (not a red but it's so gorgeous I had to mention it!)

I bought the "fire down below" shade by NARS for a Dita Von Teese halloween costume and now I use everytime I go out. Everyone say it really works on me :)

My advice is to buy a matte red tone and then gloss it yourself if you want. I found that if you buy a slick red tone, it bleeds into your skin even if you line your lips first.
I recommend ...

Pick a bright red with blue undertones, I have a red lipstick with hints of pink in it.

I have so many different red lipsticks its sickening.
My favorite I've ever used is Sephora Chic and Sephora Glamour.
Going into a Sephora would be a good thing to try, because the people are helpful and you can try on any color you need.

In my opinion, YSL carries the best lipstick.
Long lasting, creamy, rich and bold.
Plus it doesn't dry out your lips.
