MC Escher's Metamorphosis II is a long-time favourite but right now I am a fan of just about anything James Jean creates.

Portrait of Pieter and His Family in the Dutch Indies, 1665 by Jacob Jansz. Coeman. It should be in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.

Oh my gosh. I read the link you posted and it's so cool! I wouldn't imagine a piece of work being that cool upon just reading a description of it.

I don't know about favorite! I've been REALLY into with Francesca Woodman's work recently, and a lot of it is untitled and hard to find online, but one of the good ones I could find online is "On being an angel #1"

I also love Magritte, especially the ones that morph people and fish; this one is called "les merveilles de la nature" (the wonders of nature)

Dalí's The Temptation of Saint Anthony. Love how it illustrates something massive being very fragile - it is just amazing.
