Prom would be nice if you follow the rules , simplicity for my opion would make you hot like a simple black dress or something that would fit the theme of you from and dont forget to grab some killer heels coz I know girls from your school will talk about it for weeks , even months :D

I've always said, don't try and go with something 'on trend' go for something more classic. That way when you look back on your photos in years to come you won't be thinking "Good lord what was I wearing!?!" as I'm sure a lot of older women that had their proms in the 80's probably are haha! Maybe try and channel one of your all time favourite style icons.

Very simple is understated.
Diamantes/Diamonds are always in.
Sometimes the girls wear the scarvy things with material from the dress or fur
And hooker shoes. :)

I was the only girl not to wear black, red, purple or white. But because I was very small my boobs nearly popped out of my dress - like hello!

My prom look's actually on lookbook. lookbook.nu/look/1923608-Shanghai haha. Just like Michelina I wore a short Betsey Johnson dress so I could dance--blue with embroidery all over and a bodice that laced up in the back (I had to learn to breathe all over again in it). I wanted to pull it all together with red pumps, red lipstick, and a bow in my hair. I think prom's just about being yourself and creating a look that reflects that. Aside from "dress formally" (which can be interpreted differently), I don't think think you should restrain yourself to any rule. Just have fun and be confident!

Because I got to a catholic school its kind of the 'appropriate' thing to do, our graduation in Australia is a bit different to prom. Thanks guys for all your help! I'll definitely put up photos.

don't wear a corsage, they fall apart very easy, not worth it unless you plan on not moving.

I actually was the only girl wearing a green dress and it wasn't an ugly green it went good with my auburn hair. I wore black heels and took a black shawl. I also took a cute black clutch. I put my hair in curls that were down, and pinned part of it back with a black clip. Everyone liked my dress.

Mine is tonight! I'm wearing a fairly bright pink dress, but it's dip-dyed and fades to white at the bottom. It's chiffon, I can't stand those satin things. Just black wedges, black clutch, smoky eyes and pale lips, a french manicure and a loose updo :)

here's hoping it looks okay :D

My prom was in 2009 and it feels like it was a lifetime ago. My best friend and I were in love with Dita Von Teese so we decided to go in steel-boned corsets and ball gown skirts. I had my hair down professionally and I hated the results, in hindsight I'd have just practised and done it myself.

I am glad that we wore what we did, at least the style is somewhat timeless. If I did it again I'd probably wear something more romantic with lots of chiffon and lace, however what I wore was right for me at the time time.
