I work retail at a popular clothes store for teens/adults and experience a lot of horrible customers and funny mishaps. I love hearing stories about other people's work experiences and customers.

If you have a great story share them here!!!

Yesterday my boss and I went to work together (I carpool) and she said how one regular who we coined the name Jackie Chan came in and was mean to her again.
He is a repeat offender of bad customer behavior! Let me describe Jackie Chan....he is a petite older Asian man with ivory skin and a wild wardrobe. Infact if he was on here he may get some popularity..he wears clothes from the 70s but in mint condition, clogs and bell bottums, mustard colored button ups and blue jeans with orange printed scarves. He is a character though...he comes in with his kid all the time, a wild child who ends up going to our candy fixture and running away with chocolate bars...later we find the wrappers all over the store and Jackie Chan dont give a fuck.
He constantly asks the price for things in the store even though the prices are clearly shown(yes he knows English btw!) and trys to find flaws in clothes to get a mega discount.
I saw him in the shopping center while taking a break and he smiled and waved to me. I couldnt help but crack up laughing because my manager told me how his bratty child ate 2 chocolate bars in the store he didnt pay for and Jackie Chan unfolded atleast 10 piles of shirts he didnt even buy.
ohh Mister Chan...how I love to serve you hahah.

oh and she expected me to hold a meeting with my boss bout it lol!

I have loads of stories like this. The one that sticks out the most is when I worked at H&M and a girl flashed me from the fitting room door then gave me her number when I served her at the till. I didn't call her.

One of my horrible, yet funny (somehow) accidents: (and excuse me for my awful grammar)

I work at Gap, so there were 2 guys that I was kindly helping them. One of them probably had an iPhone 4S and he left it in the dressing booth (brilliant.), by the time he realized he lost his beloved iPhone he starts yelling at me that I was responsible for his things and stuff 0_0... I called my manager to solve the problem and tried to calm that douche down with no success... when my manager came he yelled at her too! he threatened me and my manager so we had to call security to kick him and his friend (that didnt do shit to help) out of the mall.
END :D

hahah she must have really liked you! Was the a nice looking girl though?

At the store I work at people are always in the fitting room and while I knock they dont speak up...I have seen way to many breasts and bottums to count

This one woman is like a filthy plastic surgery hag...Fake as fake could get and she doesnt wear a bra when she comes into shop. She trys on the low cut tops with her nipples hanging out and asks me for a size smaller lol. I just stand their wide eyed and reply "yeaa suree..."

also nip slips and women with wadrobe malfunctions, there bras are always poking out.
This one huge black woman came in ..she was very mean to the staff when we went to fragrance her and offer our promos to her...she had a baby on her hip and the weight of him on her side pulled down her tube top exposing her entire lacy blue bra for the entire duration she shopped with us...so for about an hour we kept seeing huge breasts walking around lol

I was at work once and genuinely had this conversation with a man:

Him: Hey, you're hot, come have a drink with me.
Me: I can't, sorry, I'm working.
Him: FUCK WORK, SIT ON MY FUCKING FACE

charmer, right?

I work at a gas station, and this woman came in and asked for Marlboro Special Blends. I asked her if she meant Reds, and she practically yelled, "NO! Are you TRYING to KILL ME?! ..... Lights."

Like that makes it any better...

And then as I'm ringing her out, she goes on and on about how smoking full flavor gives people cancer, and lights are fine.

I work at a doctor's office and our doctor tends to run behind schedule every single day. Most of our patients love him to death so they will wait as long as they have to in order to see him (because he really is one of the nicest and most caring doctors/person I have ever met in my life)

Sometimes new patients cannot handle the wait time and get really angry. Recently I had a man who came in OVERLY nice and chitchatting with me and my co-worker and after waiting 30 minutes he turned into the ugliest human being I've come across. He threw papers at us and was demanding respect. After he left he called back 15 minutes later and yelled at me over the phone demanding that we give him money for gas and his time that we wasted.

I have handled similar situations just find, but this case was overbearing. He kept asking me questions and when I would begin respond he would say "DONT CUT ME OFF, LISTEN TO ME" He was just a big bully!

An angry customer came into work the other day, handed us her £10 gift card and said she wanted the £10 in cash off it.
We tried explaining to her that we can't just give her the £10 note, she actually has to shop here and then she can use it at the till to pay.
She demanded to speak with the manager because she thought that it was all absolutely ridiculous.

I thought people knew that the whole point of a gift card was to spend it in the shop?

A few years ago, I worked at a local jewelry store for Summer/Christmas, and I almost always had to be manning the phones, especially when others were busy selling to customers.

One day, it was about five to ten minutes before closing time, and I pick up a call. The woman on the other line starts telling me everything that she had done that day / was currently doing, all, "oh well I just got back from this place and I need to go pick up my daughter at soccer, and..." etc etc. And at the end, she goes, "can you please stay open for me? I know I need to pick up my necklace. Will you be open?"

I just looked over to my boss, who'd heard it, and she nodded. After that, I did get several of those kinds of calls, and I always had to say yes, we'd be open. And then we'd wait until they came, talked our ears off, took their stuff, and left. What a pain, haha.

I don't work in a shop but I was once waiting in the queue at Boots and there was a black woman being served.

The girl behind the till was your typical shop girl- "Good afternoon... That's £12.83... Would you like a bag?...". Not overly friendly but not miserable either. Just like any other sales assistant in any other shop.

Then, out of the blue, as the girl is putting the items in the bag, the woman said "Would it kill you to smile?" The poor girl just looked at her in shock and then the woman starts saying "Who do you think you are? Do you think you're better than me because you're white? You're just another one of those- You think you can be rude to me because I'm black. You're disgusting!" She's going on for ages and ages and this girl is just stood there close to tears.

I felt so bad for her. She'd just been going about her job as usual and, for no reason at all, is suddenly loudly and venomously accused of racism.

When I got to the till I told her that I knew she hadn't done anything wrong and I was extra nice to her. She looked so upset and shaken by it all.

At the gas station that I work at, it's mostly rural farmers and their families that are regulars. The same people usually end up coming in every morning. (And, because I have red hair, most of them affectionately call me "Red.")

So, today this man and his daughter comes in and the man says, "Hey Red, how's it going?"

His daughter looks so surprised and offended, and says, "DAD! You did NOT just call her that!" (Like having red hair was a bad thing or something, and he was pointing it out to me. Ha.)

I just say "Oh, it's fine. Everyone calls me that. I like it." She just looked apologetic to me the whole time, though. Like I was secretly being called Red against my will.

It was kind of funny.

my worst have just been drunk customers coming in at like 10 in the morning (i work in a supermarket) and kicking up a fuss cause people refuse to sell them alcohol. they scare the shit out of me sometimes.......... we also get the same homeless guy who comes in and he smells so bad. like you can smell him coming before you can see him. its horrible......nicknames 'smelly cat'. but yeah we normally get strange regulars though. one woman comes in everyday just to by the same specific toothbrush. lot of crazy people in my town............

i reckon the worst nightmare story iv heard though is one of my best mates horrifically vomming on a customer when she was hung over......she managed to blag through it quite well though actually

when i worked as a waitress, so many customers could be called to mind. for example the regulars that came in for a takeaway and pretended they didn't know how much it was. when being told the price of a portion of salt beef every time they would laugh nervously and say 'if i had known it cost that much i would have gone to marks and spencer!' i nearly told them to go there if they didn't like our stuff and why did they continually buy from us? on my last day i wished one of them would come in and do that so i could tell them where to go. another one was when i asked him if he wanted to pay by cash or card, he flashed the cash in my face and when i went up to the till he came after me calling me a bitch several times 'why are you such a bitch? BITCH!' and 'give that back to me so i will give you nothing for service charge.' all while my manager watched this american man flip out over nothing and she sat there eating her lunch and watching and not defending her staff. useless manager. and the guy who stalked me to the dessert station to listen to me telling the others about how unreasonable he was and then reporting me to the manager and told her i 'hadn't gone to charm school' which this manager thought was hilarious. also the girl who asked for the same thing everytime which we had to make specially for her and wasn't on the menu, told us she knew we had it in the kitchen (which she didn't) and then called up to order it and threw a hissy fit when she didn't get it. more 'you bitch' accusations were thrown about before she slammed the phone down in tears. all for a chicken and cheese wrap that she could have made at home. not one of these people ever thought that they had to be polite to any of the staff and treat them like people and then wondered why we didn't like them
