I don't mean dressing up as Harry Potter for Halloween (although I suppose that could count as well)...

Do you have any looks that have been directly (or even indirectly) inspired by a novel, a character, or a theme from a book you've read? I'm trying to stay away from Cosplay or fancy-dress events where your look would qualify as a costume. I'm more interested in more of the "ready-to-wear" looks.

Post your best literature-inspired looks, along with a brief story behind the inspiration. If you are dressed as a specific character in a story, make sure to tell us who it is that you're representing.

I'm posting this thread because my latest look is in honour of H.P. Lovecraft's short story, "The Call of Cthulhu." I do not represent any particular character in the book, but rather the theme of Lovecraftian, occultish, Cthulhu-mythos accessories paired with a 1920s-era Innsmouth feel. This is the way I would imagine how a professor at Miskatonic University might dress...

Actually this is slightly different but I did design a pair of shoes which were inspired by the great gatsby!
