I'm still a newbie to the fashion blogosphere. I began following blogs over 2 years ago, and just created one myself this month.

But in my short time in this wonderful world of blogging, I've noticed that trends seem to come and go quicker than ever before. Or maybe I'm just more attuned to the ebbs and flows of trends and styles now.

For sure fashion bloggers have made runway trends more appropriate for everyday wear and more accessible to anyone with a computer and an interest in fashion. It's helped certain trends go viral super quickly. E.g., color blocking and neon. It's also helped to flatten the top-down nature of fashion. Or has it?

What are your thoughts? How has blogging changed fashion, and how will it continue to do so?

I'm just reading this now! Very interesting opinion. I agree with your sentiments about top fashion bloggers. I wish I could see more thrifted pieces from them, or pieces that they've customized themselves. This is why I like Extra Petite so much. She's a label lover, but she also finds great pieces in thrift stores and then creates tutorials for how to modify them to fit petite bodies.

My favorite thing you said is that a lot of people are intimidated by fashion. I can totally relate to that. It wasn't until I discovered fashion/style blogs and Lookbook that I began to shed that fear. I became more curious than ever, and more convinced that I could wear the styles I like without having to care about what others think of me. Ultimately I was able to create my own style blog, and I like to think that I continue to push myself each and everyday.

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts, and so sorry that I'm only now discovering your reply!

i think with blogging about the latest fashions, it parrots the news too much. while it inspires people who know nothing of the catwalk or latest trends, i find them boring because it's all just a repeat of everything. many blogs that do that don't include anything personal, like how to style the latest fashion etc
