Are there fashion items which make you think "What is so special about it?" or "Why does everyone wear this?"

Tell us the (in your opinion) most overrated trend or fashion item!

I think (and some people will probably hate me now ;) ) it is BOY LONDON. I mean seriously, these are just simple clothes with "BOY" or an eagle on it. Why does everyone like it so much?

Socks and Flip-Flops!!!

This is a particularly egregious fashion don’t. Just don’t do it!

Toe Shoes!!!

I’m sorry, but these just look terrible! If you’re going to wear these at the gym (I guess they’re good for your feet? Idk), please change into normal shoes when you go out in public.

Exceptions: These may be worn at the gym.

Ugg Boots + Skirts!!! (actually, Ugg boots in general)

Whenever I see someone wearing this outfit, I wanna shake some sense into her! Uggs don’t really look that great with anything, but look particularly bad with skirts.

Exceptions: NONE for Uggs +skirt. If you want to wear Uggs at home, that’s cool.

Heels You Can’t Walk In....

If you can’t walk in your heels, they’re too high. That’s ok, though. There are lots of cute flats and low heels out there! You DON’T need to wear stilettos all the time to be fashionable.

Exceptions: None.

Flower crowns.
Like, I've seriously debated on getting some but, even if I do want one, I still find them overrated.

Also, the Zara/SheInside asymmetrical short thing. I think it's ridiculous looking and ugly.

I don't see why people find Litas attractive, and flower crowns are just far too overrated!

The most overrated fashion trend is crop tops. Though, I do love them myself... I find that the look is hard to pull off for most people. Even the teeniest of people, in my opinion have a hard time pulling them off, because of the way they need to be paired with the perfect bottom. Unless rocking a great pair of high waisted shorts, crops just don't rock.

Mustaches! They are everywhere! I work retail and the first time I saw it, I thought "Hey I like that!" Then they started appearing everywhere! Cell phone cases, wallets, shirts, some sunglasses literally have them hanging from chains! and now people are even putting them on their cars! Soooo overdone! I regret ever saying I liked that! haha

Floral Crowns - They were cute when they came out but that's mainly a festival piece or something to wear in the woods/at a picnic/at the lake. MAKE A REAL ONE AND STOP BUYING FAKE FLOWERS!

Uggs - DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT THOSE ARE?! I've worked in a Shoe Store and most people didn't even KNOW that it was sheepskin, they would say "Oh but it doesn't hurt the sheep it's like a haircut." Ma'am, that's the fur, not it's skin.

Honestly, while I LOVE them, studded shorts or just studs in general. I grew up a hard rock/metal chick in my early teens but honestly if I see one more groupie/hipster trying to be "grunge" and just throwing spikes on anything I'm going to cry.

Socks and Sandals. My eyes, God my eyes.

Leggings as pants, either get a long shirt or a dress or a pair of shorts. I've had a terrible experience where a big booty was wearing worn out leggings with no undies- not a pretty moment in my life.

Velour Track Suits - I thought being a fashion student I would get away from this?! NO, girls come in with their hair and make-up perfect but they're wearing this?!

Also, pajamas outside. Is it that difficult to put pants on?

That Zara skirt, seriously.

Moustaches, and other quirky play-at-words slogan things.

I shall definitely rant more about this later.

Most overrated fashion trends. AHEM *clears throat*

Those Origami skirts. I think that is what they are called...anyway, I find them ridiculously plain, boring, odd and they just never look good on anyone! I don't understand why so many people like them, all of a sudden they are everywhere and they look terribleee! :O

T-shirts with 'DOPE' 'YOLO' 'SWAG' or any swear words. I see them so much...and they aren't that cool ;)

Crop tops. There is about 1 to every 1,000 people that can really pull it off and make it look good! Other than that..I think it's very meh.

Leather pants. Oh gosh.

Pointy toed heels with jeans. ERGGHH no one understands how much I hate this look! Ahaha. Or just pointy toed shoes of any description. Men's and Ladies.

Boob Tubes. Yikers..

Those shorts with the pockets removed so you can see your skin where the pockets should go...wow. They popped out of nowhere and look so ridiculous! XD

Leggings of ANY kind without a skirt, long shirt, or shorts over the top.

Anything with sequences, or dresses that are covered in them.
Or anything that sparkles XD

I think thats all for now. But I might be back to rant again XD

Haha, I feel like I'm reading a thread about "NAME EVERYTHING YOU SEE ON PEOPLE IN ART SCHOOL."

I'm agreeing with everything (here on page 3) - except hair scrunchies. My hair needs those, because I can keep them loose so they aren't pulling my scalp, and they don't fall out like basic elastics would (when loose) in my hair.

I'll add 2 fun items: AA's DISCO PANT + SCARVES / KNIT CAPS IN THE SUMMER. WHY?

Real fur vests. Why would you need one? If there are no sleeves, then you can't wear it during the colder days. Still it too hot for the warm ones.

I do not like leggings as an item of the outfit, I think they are created to be worn at the gym or at home.
I do not like combination of pink and blood red colors...just look weird for me
Sneakers worn with dresses and classical items, I know it is trendy right now, but I just do not get it

while both men and women used to wear harem pants in the east (and some still do), the word harem refers to women. don't see how trousers made for women can be masculine

@Selina

Well since men were predominantly wearing trousers/pants well before women took it as mainstream fashion, I view pants of any kind to be masculine fair. But that is just the way I was brought up to look at it and I am in no way forcing anyone to accept that outlook.

By all means, if you want to wear pants designed for women, be my guest. That still doesn't mean I find them attractive on women which was my point.

That said, if there is an article of clothing that was primarily designed for women than now comes in a men's cut and has been labelled as men's, there shouldn't be any reason for complaint there either.

Sadly though, there are a lot of people who do ostracise, finger point or pull strange faces if a man chooses to wear something even slightly androgynous these days which I find disturbing and unfair considering we are supposed to live with equality in mind.

you're thinking in a western view. women in the east have been wearing these trousers for a long time before women in the west did. these or other types of loose trousers were and still are common in many parts of the world as cultural dress and for many, everyday wear

Yeah I know Im looking at it from a western aspect, I appreciate that. I also realize the women of the East also wore pants for practicality (for work) more so than fashion. I totally get that pants are here to stay. But it still doesn't change my outlook on women wearing pants (as in pant suits and trousers/ baggy style pants) as a masculine form of fashion statement as a whole.

Call it nurture vs nature. Call it however you see it, but whenever I see a woman in dress trousers or the like, I see elements of 'butchy manliness' which I will never find attractive because I see men wearing the same thing and have grown up seeing men in that attire despite its origins and history. That doesn't mean I will treat women poorly because of it, that is not what Im trying to convey, but purely on an fashion attractiveness level. I realize everyone has the right to express themselves in what ever format they choose. But you will never have 100% like what you like or accept it.

Perhaps it's how I was raised, or maybe I'm focusing too much on one element of fashion. I'm not sure. Im probably getting too deep now....LOL.

Keeping on topic though, I do think it's an overrated fashion item. That's my 2p worth.
