No guys, I don't want you to count :D
And I'm sure no lookbooker would survive with just 3 pants and 3 tops.

What I am interested to hear is: do you guys have a massive amount of clothes or do you prefer to have a relatively small wardrobe with a few pieces you love to wear all the time?

Do you create looks never using the same piece twice or do you like the challenge of being creative and re-arranging a smaller amount of items to new looks again and again?
How often do you buy new clothes / shoes / accessories?
Do you "muck out" your wardrobe on a regular basis?

I just thought although we are all into fashion there might still be huge differences and I would love to hear about the relationship between you and your clothes :)

lol. i shop WAY too much. i admit that. i buy stuff online every week. and i buy more than one pair of shoes every month.

however, i do recycle the same items that i have used before in different looks! i don't abandon my old clothes just because i have new clothes. i just like lots of clothes lol. everything is hung up nicely in my closet and everyday when im choosing something to wear, im looking at everything as a whole, so im never looking at JUST the new clothes or JUST the old clothes. they're always looked at together :)

there are some pieces that go with almost everything that i have used them in my l00ks more than 3-4 times! paired with other different items and styled differently of course :)

btw, ive seen a few of the threads you have started on the forum and i think they are terrific! so very different and interesting! thanks for jazzing up the forum! <3

Hmmm... the forum says I have posted twice but I can't see anything. Trying to reply for half an hour now, but lookbook doesn't seem to like me at the moment.

i have so much stuff, mainly from swapping online and in swap events so i end up with a tonne of stuff i wouldn't usually get to buy. i have some old favourites i can't bear to let go of and get worn regularly over several years and some that i wear a few times and decide its not for me and they go back into the swap pile. i wear each item several times over usually. so i have a massive wardrobe but with lots of pieces i like to wear and mix and match all the time. i love creating different looks and sometimes i repeat any outfit after a while because it works so well. my spending habits tend to go: a few months no shopping and then an entire month of shopping. i muck out my wardrobe on a regular basis and swap and sell things all the time to refresh it. recently i've been dyeing and altering a few bits and pieces which is a great way to reinvent the wardrobe

i have a LOT of clothing. i buy online, in store, i thrift.

Buuuut, like Nun - I also swap and sell and it keeps things interesting.
I always wear something more than once unless I'm not feeling it because that's the point of clothing! To keep wearing it different ways, or even the same ways as before if you really liked that outfit.

Or if I'm sick of something, I'll cut it up and glue stuff to it to make it more appealing to me. :D

I think I could say I have an average amount of clothes, haha. I don't have that many, but I also don't have that much.

I go through spurts, and go crazy buying shoes for a while, or shirts, or dresses/skirts. I love my shoe collection, but clothes...i get bored easily with new pieces and often wear.my favorite things over and over. People probably think I only have 5 shirts and 2 pairs of jeans, but they are comfortable for me, so who cares, right? I do experiment on the weekends, but I don't wear most my clothes as often as I should.

Compared to most of my friends, I overbuy clothes, but I guess that it's not so much in comparison to other lookbookers out there :D
I must have around 20 shirts, 10 tees, perhaps 20 pair of shoes, LOTS of scarves/ties.
But when it comes to outwear... I must own about 40 jackets/coats :D

I actually don't have that many clothes as 90% my money goes to College tuition.
But my friends have said I seem to have a lot more clothes then I actually do, because of how I rotate them. That's comforting, since I always get self-conscious thinking "God I hope no one notices"

I don't have that many clothes compared to most Lookbookers (who appear to have completely different clothes every day!!) but I do have a considerable amount of tops. Haha. Speaking of which, I need more shoes. I literally wear the same two pairs all the time. =3= LOL!!

I think it's really cool when people rewear clothes but completely differently. I dunno, it's just something I really admire, and I aim to do! *A* ///ends up wearing same OOTD 5 days in row instead/// hahahha something I shouldn't admit as a fashionista right? You guys didn't read that at all~ *coughs*

I have an insane, ridiculous amount of clothing. I try to keep the shoes under 100 pairs and the bags under 50 but mostly fail. I don't try to keep the numbers down on anything else. I do mix and match and wear and re-wear everything, though. When you get to a certain age (for me it was 25), your wardrobe takes on more permanency. It becomes entirely possible to have things that are still amazing and classic 10 or 15 years after you bought them. I don't use the "if you haven't worn it in a year..." test because it might take me two or three years between on certain pieces but I will come back to them. And some pieces I wear once a week.

I don't have all that much. One two door closet with one side folded pants and tops and the other half I hung some cardis and share with my husband.
I also have one rack (with rools) where I hang my dresses (about) and one space for all my coats/ jackets. I have more coats and dresses than the average person, but lack Jeans and Pullovers.

I used to have more clothing, Two three door closets full and about 30 pairs of shoes, but when I left New York I put all of it in storage and it is still in New York :(((....I hope I can ship it soon, but it is so expensive!

- A little bit of both? But more re-using my faves.

How often do you buy new clothes / shoes / accessories?
- every 1-3 months...if I get something more often it is usually something small. I think I spend no more than 20 a month.

Do you "muck out" your wardrobe on a regular basis?
Noooo :D, I even wear things from the 90's still, and my mothers 80's clothing. I love all my clothes and wash them by hand or in a gentle wool cycle on cold lol <3

I have a decent sized one. I don't shop a lot, but when I do, I bring home a lot.
I do tend to clear out my wardrobe and bring new things in every season.

no, you can't show the exact same outfit in more than 1 post. you can wear the same thing paired with different items, so the same pair of jeans with different t-shirts and jumpers etc but vary the shoes and add in whatever else that will be different. the same dress can be used as long as you vary it with different shoes, tights or a coat etc

I used to have way too many clothes, but I have been trying to minimize all of my pieces to a rational amount and keep everything in the same color scheme so I have more options.

I always tend to get emotionally attached to some pieces, though! It's tough to get rid of stuff.

I always repeat the same stuff too, and I am trying to break the habit. I have the same clutch show up in many different posts by accident.

using the same bag doesn't break the rules at all, it's like wearing the same shoes, it's not the full outfit so those accessories don't matter if that makes sense

That does make sense, I never thought of it that way. I get a little paranoid about repeating stuff so it is alleviating to hear that it isn't a big deal if it is a single piece.

it's full outfits with exactly the same items that counts as repost. no way would i post as much on here if i needed a different pair of shoes per outfit!

oh shiit, this is such a good question! Last spring I was preparing to move out from my university to England and I decided to look through my wardrobe and get rid of everything that I dont wear, that I keep for some reason but it does not actually look good on me and leave only the ideal pieces. And throughout this project I decided to count everything I decide to keep. And the criteria is that only the IDEAL stuff can stay.

To pressure myself.

Because I knew it is going to be overwhelming.

I counted 120 items, not counting lingerie/hosiery and stuff like that.

But the nature cannot stand the void and against my best intentions I quickly refilled my posessions. I don't know how much I have, but the room I moved into does not have a massive wardrobe and I am slightly concerned about what I am going to do with those boxes of clothes once I get them here from up north...

Everyone's got their weaknesses. Mine are coffee and clothes.
