I often do get comments from rather popular LBers that sound as if they absolutely love my look, but they never hype. The comment is often rather generic and short like" "perfect!", "great look!", "love", "loveee so much!", "wow!".... :(

And when I browse the forums I see the same people comment on Newbie looks.
To me that seems like they are just trying to gain unexperienced Newbie fans who feel flattered, while trying to keep the small so they can't rise up.

I also noticed hypes disappearing. Just earlier my newest look went down by two hypes...do people actually remove them? (same with fans)

I find this extremely unfair and I don't want to keep my mouth shut anymore.

it's been suggested that cookies are the reason for hypes disappearing

forum.lookbook.nu/topic/63587-the-case-of-the-missing-hypes

as for the popular people, i've only had a hype or a comment from about 2 of them and the hype is probably gone due to cookies or whatever it is. i did get a generic comment from aksinya and one personal comment from konstantina. the people who give you generic almost spammy replied hype everyone to get hypes and fans back. for fans, i've lost 2 in the past day and i can see that clearly because i don't have many in the first place. but there's nothing you can do about that. some people do sometimes hype without thinking and then might remove it when they look at the outfit and decide that they wanted to retract it

I used to find my hypes on other people's looks disappeared all the time but not recently.

I find the people who are just trolling for hypes exactly as silly as they are. I don't get immediately offended by people who do actually hype but tend to write the same or similar things on a lot of looks. Maybe their communication skills aren't as good as mine, maybe they're lazy, or maybe they are just looking for reciprocity. Doesn't really matter. Lookbook is as good as we make it, so I craft the best Lookbook experience for myself that I can. That means I don't worry about the stupid, negative stuff people do. I just worry about finding and giving support to looks and people I do like. I look at every single profile of every single person my notifications feed shows me and, sure, I notice there are probably a few people who unhype or are just phoning it in in some way and I stop wasting my time on them.

Generic comments aren't really what bothers me, but I meant to say when someone only comments and don't hype with the comment and then put a generic "perfect" or "love" under every Newbie look, it does seem like they just comment on everyone to be seen and they don't hype so the Newbies don't advance. :/

But I don't know how much it happens to others.

I'm also quite new to LB, and commenting without hyping happened to me already few times! Sometimes this comments come from "famous people" and I know that they're doing it to get new fans or get spotted. But I also spotted that some newbies or people who already have above 100 or few houndred fans are acting exactly the same as this "famous people" and only giving you one short generic comment, not hyping or anything! And to be honest I really don't know how to react! Cause sometimes some of this people after you hyped their look or fanned, they come back and hype you or smth but most of them just don't do it, so I'm really pissed of! If they're looking for attention they should at least hype one of your looks instead of only writing this comments!

And there are also few things that few newbies or not that new newbies seeking for new fans do and it really makes me angry! I want say the names but there are few girls on LB that say that fanned you, or fanned you back if you fanned them but they don't really do it! If it was just in my case I would probably think like :oh, maybe she forgot or smth, but then suddenly I'm browsing others profiles and see that same person, saying that she fanned smbd but she didn't at all!!
And I think it's just cheating! What do they think? That if they write that they fanned we will believe it? We're not as stupid! We can see our fans clearly so why are this people lying?

There are also some people that fan you but don't even hype one of your looks and I think it's unfair! I know that everybody is looking for fans and everything, but you fan someone either because you love his looks or because you hope that he can fan you back. But when you're fanning and not even trying to communicate with this person it doesn't really have meaning! If you're too lazy to write comments at least hype!!!

Oh and another think that makes me so angry is that some people repost they looks or people who create fake accounts just to give themselves more likes and hearts! And it's so obvious!

What do you do if you smbd you hyped and commented before reposts their look few days later or few hours later? Do you hype again or not?

To be frank, I more care the looks if creative, unique or nice. No matter if u faned me or hype me or only comment me. I will hype the looks attract me only. So the people who only comment no hype, I look down(dislike) your behaviour, but not affect I like your outfit if it is really good. Here it is just a small place to share looks, most people build fans out of here as well... We can not request everyone to be honest, at least we follow own heart. Be true to self!

sometimes when you hype a lot of looks, then looks that you have hyped before are no longer lit up blue. it happens to me all of the time because i love hyping people. it doesn't hurt to hype so you may as well give out as many as you can. everyone deserves them so they at least can have a chance for more people to see them. but sometimes if it isnt lit up blue i may have forgotten i've already looked at something and so i will rehype which actually will take away the hype. if i notice that happen i fix it right away, but i'm sure that i miss it sometimes.

you'll learn that there are a lot of fake people on here that do everything that you've just described on a regular basis. it's not worth getting annoyed over. as for resposts, i don't hype again. i wrote on quite a few people's reposted pictures about that, usually along the lines of 'it's a shame that you reposted' etc. if i'm really annoyed with them 'what was the point of reposting?' most of them delete my comment which shows that they don't want to look bad. some people prefer to unfan straight away. it's so rude and inconsiderate to repost just for more hypes. what if someone gave their heart to you that day and you've wasted it?

You're definitely right in what you're saying. Thing is - if Lookbook was only about showing your own style and finding inspiration these things probably wouldn't happen that often. Nobody would be so desperate for more fans and hypes if it was just numbers on a website. But people do get desperate and greedy as soon as money or at least free clothes are involved. As soon as you got your first couple hundred fans you'll be approached by online shops offering you freebies and the more fans you got the more free stuff you get. And that's what makes people do those things.
Free clothes are great, definitely. But is it really fun if being a fashion blogger means spending 8 hrs a day copy-pasting "Amazing" under 4 billion looks? You could as well work in a factory where you have to do the exact same hand movement 4 billion times a day to earn the money to buy the clothes...

Yeah at first I thought it was only the people with a couple thousand fans but obviously that's not the case. As I said - there's nothing wrong with freebies as it's clearly a win-win for both the blogger and the shop but you shouldn't sell your soul for freebies.

i've just unfanned someone for constantly deleting and reposting. never done that before but then i never knew anyone who did that so blatantly. she does it constantly and once did so 4 times in a week. so rude and i knew she would delete my comment if i told her so because she did that before when i noticed that she had reposted. i got so annoyed and told her that she was rude and ungrateful to her fans who get their hypes and love deleted just because she was greedy and wanted more hypes. i can't report her because she always deletes and then reposts. her rudeness is unbelievable and she can't even handle the valid questions on why she deletes and reposts. i love her outfits but i refuse to fan her any longer if she treats people that way. thank goodness i didn't give her a heart recently like i was going to. such a cheater. so watch out for toshiko

So she does delete in the hopes of getting more hypes next time? Are they older looks? I'm a bit confused.
It doesn't sound good at all though.

I noticed a few famous LBers re-posting looks from 2012 and such.

yes. i know she's lost a few fans because of it but most still blindly hype and praise her. they aren't older looks, they are ones she has just posted, deletes after a day and reposts. they are usually her most recent looks so its noticeable

I see, but this topic isn't about people that post "amazing" and "perfect" or woweee loveee it sooo much", which sounds like they like it and don't want to just ask a question or say something..
Besides....if I don't like a look enough to hype I won't comment. Hypes are for - if I like something, Comments - if I really like the look - hearts - if the look is perfect and I fan to bookmark people with an interesting style and of course to see more of their looks!

Hi Selina, I saw some famous (2-3) repost recent looks more than 2 times. I think they may have different reson, because the first and second post already won lots of hypes. I guess their outfit may support by some retailers, then they try their best to make products popular and notice by others. Just my guess :) if like this, I do not like this commercial activities!

Yeah, pretty sure the reason they comment but don't hype is because it's more efficient. If they hype and you get a couple of hypes in the same minute, they get rolled into the "and __ others" hyped your look. If they comment, even just one short word, they're a separate line in your notifications. Plus, obviously, other people who like your look enough to visit your comments will see them. I don't think it's at all motivated by not wanting others to advance but by only worrying about whether they themselves advance. It doesn't build good long-term connections but it definitely games the system short-term. I don't understand wanting to get to the top with a poor reputation - it's bound to come back to bite them eventually - but, whatever, they're not worth stressing over.

Hahaha, Liza I love the "copy-pasting "Amazing" under 4 billion looks?" Actually I noticed that too, then there are new people too hyping or fanning that undo it if you don´t "return the favour". When using this as a strategy, it must be actually funny keeping track of every fan or hype you give.

Yes some members have become specialists given hypes: me, it happens all the time ... and then removed (probably afraid of competition). This is common and they think it can not be seen;) All this to be a vote of you ... hoping you do not see their shenanigans ...
Others claim to "follow for monitoring" other reviews ... but avoid giving hypes ...
It is a pity but not serious, indeed
